Casual Theursday n° II

beer

beer

Oskar Blues Old Chub Nitro

Scotch Ale (N2)

color: clear deep dark red w/ brown tint
t: toasty flavor of roasted malts. caramel.
scotch flavor less intense than CO2 version
s: smooth less intense flavors of roasted malt and hops
f: super smooth
W.I.B.A.: fuck yes. the CO2 version has been one of my favorite go-to
beers. this nitro version took it up a couple notches.
although the flavors are tons more smoothed out, it still tastes good,
since the base beer is pretty deep in flavor.

 beer

Parallel 49 Salty Scot

Scotch Ale

color: clear brown w/ gold tint
t: rich malty! sweet savory caramel. toasty english base malt
s: toasty english malt smell
f: crispy with a savory feel
W.I.B.A.: yes. it was pretty good. it was like a west coast style
english bitter. pretty good.

 beer

AleSmith Old Numbskull

Barleywine Ale

color: clear golden brown / amber
t: rich malty caramel flavors with sweet hop vibes
s: clean hop aroma
f: light clean presence with an alcohol/hop bite
W.I.B.A.: note: this is not a barleywine. [we were just fucked up
and didn’t think things through]. this is an ale, styled after a
barleywine. yes, i would definitely buy it again. ’twas too good.

 beer

Greene King The King’s English IPA

English IPA

color: clear amberish brown
t: nutty english style ipa
s: carbonated malt
f: carbonated bite
W.I.B.A.: $3 for a 16oz 6% import is pretty nice.
would be pretty nice on tap because it is a little
over carbonated for the subtle flavors.

 beer

Rogue Beard Beer

Wild Yeast Ale

color: slightly cloudy golden
t: light sweet fruity flavor flowing into hoppy ending
s: earthy hoppy skunky sour aroma
f: full mouthfeel with sour essense
W.I.B.A.: yes. the strong hop character. lager feel from the yeast
with a sour/skunky smell. could be the grains. probably both.
it wouldn’t be my first pick, but it also wasn’t half bad.

Rogue XS Dead Guy Ale

American Strong Ale (Maibock style)

color: golden amber
t: intense citrusy hop beginning / balanced straight forward malt base
s: balanced malty hop smell. not overpowering
f: intense refreshing feel with a nice downhill gradient
W.I.B.A.: hell yeah. taste extremely similar [same matls – different
quanitites / different hops] awesome beer

Top Picks…

  1. Rogue XS Dead Guy Ale – strong take on an awesome favorite of mine
  2. Oskar Blues Old Chub Nitro – boss change-up on yet another favorite of mine
  3. AleSmith Old Numbskull – tasty ass beer. try this 100%
  4. Parallel 49 Salty Scot – awesome west coast style english bitter
