Personal style is e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g to me because a person’s sense of style is a direct reflection of her soul and heart. Great style isn’t about being fashionable. It’s about exuding confidence in our second skin. And I don’t take this lightly. Believe it or not, the right wardrobe can make a huge difference in how a person approaches life. When I feel legitimately good in what I’m wearing, it shows through my vibe and the way I move. I’m happier when I feel comfortable and confident.
Having less gives you more – more space, appreciation, and simplicity. And that’s what a lot of us are missing these days.
Circling back to the purpose of this post – my current wardrobe no longer serves me. My taste has transformed a lot in recent years and I want to curate a wardrobe that reflects this. Here’s the problem: the finer things in life are never cheap and I’m stingy. You see the dichotomy? And to add one more obstacle, I have a really hard time letting go of stuff. So doing this cleanse is forsure a huge milestone. I’ve removed a bunch of unworn, unloved clothes from my closet. There’s still more narrowing down to do, but I’ve already brought home some new goodies.

Going Minimal // Game Plan
➊ Get rid of stuff you haven’t worn in a long time. You be the judge of what stays and what gets ditched. Trust your instincts if some things leave you unsure. If you’re like me, this is the hardest part but it’s absolutely necessary. When you’ve made space in your closet, you can start to rebuild.
➋ Only buy things that you truly love. We shop for different reasons. Sometimes we buy things cause we just feel like it. I used to buy stuff on impulse, but I’ve really cut back. Nowadays, I focus on what I really need. I pay more attention to the quality and the fit. If it hangs the way it’s supposed to, I’ll feel like a million bucks in it. And that’s what I ultimately want — a wardrobe that makes me feel like myself.
➌ Invest in holy grail garments i.e. fuckin bomb ass dress, your everything heels, etc. Basically a piece of clothing that’s too good to be true. It fits so well that it must have been designed just for you. When I find one of these legendary items, I have no problem with paying more. I may be super stingy, but even I know it’ll be worth it in the end.
➍ Forget about quantity. Think fewer but better. Minimize the amount of stuff you own. Stop crowding your space with a bunch of crap that you don’t ever wear. Only keep the crème de la crème.
➎ Continue to do you. Don’t be apologetic for your authencity. If it feels right that’s all that matters. Who gives a shit about them haters? Those Abercrombie cult days are over.
